Description:
We are seeking a hands-on Safety Specialist to champion a strong safety culture within our light manufacturing environment. This role serves as the daily voice of safety on the shop floor — partnering with employees and leaders to identify risks, improve processes, ensure compliance, and create a workplace where safety is part of everything we do. Primary Responsibilities Champion safety by leading with a safety-first mindset in all initiatives. You are empowered to speak up and act before risks arise. Monitor and enforce company safety policies and ensure OSHA compliance on the shop floor Conduct regular safety walks, inspections, and job hazard analyses across all production areas Partner with supervisors and employees to correct unsafe conditions and behaviors in real time Facilitate new hire safety orientations and regular safety training sessions for all employees Maintain safety documentation, including training records, SDSs, inspection logs, and incident reports Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and coordinate corrective actions Serve as chair of the local safety committee and lead monthly safety meetings Coordinate PPE programs and ensure consistent availability of safety supplies Support environmental and health-related programs, including ventilation, chemical handling, and emergency procedures Track and report safety metrics (e.g., near misses, incident rates, compliance findings) to management Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and local authorities Collaborate with HR and Operations to manage workers' compensation cases and return-to-work programs Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
2+ years in a safety-related role in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment Knowledge of OSHA regulations and basic safety best practices Experience delivering safety training or toolbox talks Ability to write clear and actionable reports and incident summaries Preferred OSHA 30-Hour Certification First Aid/CPR/AED certification
