Job Description

Regal Foods, located in Leola, PA, is a growing spice manufacturing and packaging company focused on producing high-quality spice products for retail and bulk customers. We repackage spices into consumer bottles and 25 lb bulk bags for food manufacturing and distribution. We take pride in quality, teamwork, food safety, and efficiency. The Food Safety Specialist supports the Food Safety Systems Manager/SQF Practitioner with daily food safety, quality, compliance, and documentation activities. This entry-level position assists with inspections, record review, product quality checks, GMP monitoring, audit preparation, and food safety program verification activities. The role provides an excellent opportunity for professional growth, including company-supported development toward obtaining HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) Certification and the SQF Practitioner Certification Credential , helping build the knowledge and qualifications needed for advancement in food safety and quality management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Food Safety Support Assist with daily GMP inspections throughout the facility. Observe employee practices and report food safety concerns. Assist with facility walkthroughs and food safety observations. Support food safety program verification activities. Help maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready facility. Documentation & Record Management Organize and file food safety documents and records. Review completed forms for accuracy and completeness. Assist with record retention and document control activities. Prepare documentation for audits and inspections. Update food safety logs, checklists, and tracking spreadsheets. Production Quality Checks Perform routine product quality checks during production. Verify products meet established specifications. Document findings and communicate concerns to leadership. Assist with product sampling and quality evaluations. Monitor production records for completion and accuracy. Inbound Quality Verification Assist with inspections of incoming ingredients, packaging materials, and supplies. Verifying incoming materials meets company requirements. Review Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and supporting documentation. Report damaged, questionable, or non-conforming materials. Support traceability and receiving documentation activities. Audit & Compliance Support Assist with internal audits and facility inspections. Help identify and correct minor GMP and food safety issues. Participate in SQF and customer audit preparation activities. Verify completion of assigned corrective actions. Support continuous improvement projects. Training & Communication Assist with employee GMP and food safety training activities. Reinforce food safety expectations with employees. Communicate concerns, observations, and findings to the Food Safety Manager. Work collaboratively with Production, Warehouse, and Maintenance teams. Daily Expectations Beginning of Shift Assist with facility walk-through. Review daily priorities with Food Safety Manager. Check production schedule and areas of focus. Verify required records are completed. Throughout the Day Conduct GMP observations. Perform product quality checks. Assist with inbound material inspections. Complete assigned documentation reviews. Follow up on food safety observations and corrective actions. Support audit-readiness activities. End of Shift Ensure records are complete and filed. Communicate outstanding issues. Assist with final facility inspection as needed. Prepare documentation for the following day. Qualifications Associate's or bachelor's degree in food science, Food Safety, Biology, Microbiology, Agricultural Sciences, or related field preferred. 0-2 years of experience in food manufacturing, food safety, quality assurance, or a related environment. Basic knowledge of GMPs and food safety principles. Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to walk production areas and perform facility inspections throughout the workday. HACCP, SQF, or Preventive Controls training is a plus but not required.
