WHAT WE OFFER
For the summer of 2027, Covestro's Health and Environmental Safety (HSE) team is currently seeking an intern for our North American headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA that will last approximately 12 weeks. The work will be done within the HSE arena (safety and health areas). Covestro strives to foster a positive, enriching, and productive work environment and provides multiple forms of training and professional development throughout the internship program. For the selected intern, the summer of 2027 should be challenging, rewarding and fun! Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the site's HSE Management System by conducting workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and field observations across labs, production areas, and construction projects. Assist with programs/procedures covering fall protection, work permits, confined spaces, machine safety, contractor safety, and other OSHA-regulated activities. Participate in emergency response monthly trainings, safety audits, incident/near-miss investigations, and risk assessments, helping identify contributing factors and develop corrective actions. Support the development and review of HSE procedures, training materials, and inspection forms.
WHAT YOU OFFER
Basic Qualifications Enrollment in a bachelor's degree program with a focus in one of the following majors: safety management, industrial hygiene or environmental science/engineering Completion of sophomore year Preferred Qualifications Completion of junior year preferred. Prior internship/work experience preferred. Safety Management preferred. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Skills and Knowledge Possess excellent critical thinking and analytical skills. Basic understanding/familiarity with OSHA General Industry standard. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills including an ability to interact and establish strong working relationships with diverse individuals. Detail oriented, fast learner, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
