As Required Position Summary The Construction Safety Professional supports the Safety Director and Safety Coordinator in promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture across company operations. This field-focused EHS role works with employees, supervisors, project managers, and management to carry out established safety programs and support OSHA compliance, company and customer requirements, jobsite safety, training, incident prevention, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will provide a visible, practical safety presence in the field by identifying hazards, coaching employees, completing required safety documentation, and supporting both field and office operations under the direction of BCC safety leadership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Jobsite Safety
  • Conduct regular and unannounced jobsite safety inspections; identify hazards and unsafe practices and track corrective actions through completion.
Verify PPE and monitor compliance with fall protection, ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, powered industrial trucks, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, and other applicable requirements. Support operations with Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), pre-task planning, customer-specific safety documentation, and jobsite safety meetings. Safety Training Assist with developing and conducting safety training, safety curriculum, new-hire orientation, refresher training, and bi-weekly toolbox talks in conjunction with the Safety Director and Safety Coordinator. Coordinate and track required OSHA, CPR/First Aid, forklift, aerial lift, fall protection, and other employee training and certifications. Support and facilitate safety stand-downs as directed, actively participate in Safety Week, and promote employee participation in the company safety program. Incident and Injury Management Conduct and assist with investigations of injuries, near misses, property damage, and other incidents under the direction of safety leadership; help identify root causes and recommended corrective/preventive actions. Ensure incidents are documented and reported, follow corrective actions through completion, assist with workers' compensation documentation, and monitor incident trends. OSHA and Regulatory Compliance
  • Maintain working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and applicable federal, state, local, and environmental requirements. Assist with OSHA inspections, inquiries, OSHA 300/300A/301 recordkeeping, customer/insurance audits, and required safety documentation. Safety Program Administration
  • Assist with development and maintenance of company safety programs, SDS/hazardous-material documentation, and written programs for specific construction activities.
Assist the Safety Director with the annual and as-needed review and update of safety procedures, policies, and the company safety manual. Track and monitor established safety metrics, maintain inspection/training/certification records, identify trends, and assist the Safety Director and Safety Coordinator with periodic management reporting Track and monitor Samsara driver metrics and coach drivers that exhibit negative driving behaviors. Employee and Management Support Serve as a field safety resource to employees and supervisors; coach safe work practices, document repeated violations, and support safety leadership and supervisors with corrective or disciplinary actions when necessary. Promote accountability, encourage hazard and near-miss reporting, participate in Safety Council meetings and company safety initiatives, and support initiatives led by the Safety Director and Safety Coordinator. Qualifications Required Construction safety background with practical field experience; 3+ years preferred.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification and working knowledge of OSHA construction standards. Experience with jobsite inspections, safety training/toolbox talks, incident investigations, hazard recognition, and corrective actions. Strong written/verbal communication, organization, documentation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple jobsites and priorities, and maintain reliable transportation with a valid driver's license. Preferred OSHA 500 and First Aid/CPR certifications. Environmental Health and Safety experience, including environmental compliance awareness. Experience with safety management systems, workers' compensation, union/commercial construction, doors/equipment installation/demolition, and customer-specific contractor safety systems. Physical and Work Requirements Regular travel to active construction jobsites; occasional overnight travel and work outside normal business hours as needed. Ability to work outdoors, wear required PPE, walk jobsites, climb stairs/ladders, and navigate uneven surfaces and varying weather conditions. Reliable transportation required; vehicle arrangement may be a car allowance or company vehicle based on company policy. Performance Expectations The Construction Safety Professional is expected to: Maintain a visible, proactive field presence and address hazards before they result in injury or incidents. Communicate safety concerns promptly, maintain accurate documentation, and follow corrective actions through completion. Promote employee ownership of safety, support supervisors in applying established standards, and identify opportunities for improvement to the Safety Director and Safety Coordinator. Education
    Preferred:
    Associate or bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Construction Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field. Equivalent construction safety experience and industry certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
    Compensation and Benefits:
    • Competitive salary ranging from $75,000 to $85,000.
