ABOUT THE ROLE
We're hiring a Fire Protection Sales professional to estimate and sell fire alarm and fixed special hazards suppression systems, along with inspection contracts for those systems and other fire protection services. You'll learn and apply applicable NFPA and IBC codes, local Authority Having Jurisdiction requirements, and manufacturer's specifications. It's a fun, challenging career in the life safety industry for someone who wants to become an expert and deliver world-class fire protection to our customers.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Estimate and sell fire alarm and fixed special hazards suppression systems
  • Sell inspection contracts for those systems and other fire protection services
  • Learn and apply NFPA and IBC codes, local Authority Having Jurisdiction requirements, and manufacturer's specifications
  • Build and manage customer relationships across your territory, tracking activity in our CRM
  • Prepare accurate, detail-oriented estimates, proposals, and quotes
  • Travel overnight up to 25% in a week as the territory requires
  • Take on other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Above-average interpersonal skills, with strong verbal and written communication
  • Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with CRM systems
  • Good time management, the ability to multi-task quickly, a willingness to be a team player, and—most importantly—a strong attention to detail
  • Sales or technical experience in engineering, construction, electrical installation, or mechanical installation is a plus; fire alarm or fire suppression sales experience and NICET certification are preferred but not required
  • A college education in a field related to engineering, construction, computers, or electronics is preferred but not required
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening (which includes marijuana) for this safety-sensitive position, and to obtain an Illinois PERC card
SCHEDULE & TRAINING
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, based out of our Bettendorf, Iowa office; remote work is possible if you live in the sales territory. The preferred candidate lives in Iowa, ideally near Davenport, Iowa City, or Cedar Rapids. Travel may include up to 25% overnight in a week. Regardless of your level of experience, we will be intently focused on your professional development for the first 2-5 years and will provide the tools and resources you need to keep building your industry knowledge and skills throughout your career.

Paid Holidays — Eight paid holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas. Compensation — Starting at $60,000 per year and up, depending on experience and qualifications. Once you're established in the territory, the role moves to a base salary plus commissions and bonuses structure, increasing your earnings potential. Company Car & Cell Phone — A company car and a company cell phone are provided.
