This vacancy is open to employees of the University of Nottingham only. The University of Nottingham is seeking a motivated, experienced and proactive Health & Safety Advisor to drive the continuous improvement of Health & Safety across all areas of the University.

The role will see you:

• Provide competent, practical and pragmatic Health & Safety advice and support
• Undertake inspections, audits and reviews of Business Units and departments to ensure compliance with legislation and UoN policy
• Produce comprehensive reports and action plans to improve the overall safety of the university.
• Build and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders around the university, with an aim to create a collaborative and team-based approach to health and safety.
• Advice on safety matters in multidisciplinary and complex working environments, such as laboratories, workshops, working with animals and grounds work.
• Develop, review and update compliance standards and guidance in line with the needs of the Health & Safety department and the University
• Lead and support significant incident investigations, in conjunction with other members of the health and safety department and stakeholders around the university.
• To support the Health and Safety team with developing training and communications, as needed. What you bring to the role:
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels.
• Experience of auditing and inspecting
• Excellent IT skills
• Proven track record of implementing Health & Safety legislation and fostering best practices
• NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent) or working towards or willingness to undertake. With a minimal NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) qualification.
• Ability to provide targeted and competent health and safety advice to a range of users What we offer:
