Responsibilities - What you'll do Inspect a wide variety of food processing operations including but not limited to bakeries, water bottlers, breweries, distilleries and sauce/condiment manufacturers. Conduct compliance and enforcement activities, complaint/illness investigations, and collect samples at regulated facilities. Provide food safety technical guidance and training to industry, local public health agencies (LPHAs), and the public. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in science, such as public health, food science, microbiology, or other applicable field of study (substitutions for experience will be considered). Three to five years of food safety experience. Ability to travel in and out of state, including occasional overnight stays on short notice. Valid driver's license required. Understanding of principles that affect food safety. Ability to pass federal background checks to obtain and maintain federal credentials. Moderate physical effort and mobility is required, e.g. driving vehicles, climbing stairs, negotiating outdoor terrain, walking/standing for hours at a time and frequent stooping/bending. Lack of post‐secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
