In this vital role, you will develop, implement, and monitor safety programs that promote a secure and healthy work environment across manufacturing operations. Your expertise will ensure adherence to environmental management systems, hazardous materials regulations, and occupational health standards, fostering a culture of continuous safety improvement. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on employee well-being and environmental stewardship. Essential Functions Develop, maintain, and continuously improve safety and environmental policies and procedures. Coordinate and ensure all required training is performed on time and meets or exceeds regulatory requirements. Responsible for all regulatory reporting (local, state, and federal). Conduct regular health, safety, and environmental audits Chair the health, safety, and environmental committee. Stays abreast of updated regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance with local, state, federal, and international laws. In conjunction with the Quality Manager, implement and maintain an
ISO 14001
Environmental Management system Compliance with all company policies as detailed in the company Handbook, Employee Meetings, postings, etc. Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive environmental health and safety policies aligned with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements. Lead training sessions on safety regulations, hazard communication, emergency response procedures, first aid, CPR, and OSHA compliance standards to empower employees with essential safety knowledge. All other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Good working knowledge of OSHA and TOSHA general industry requirements Good working knowledge of TN and Federal environmental regulations Good working knowledge of related industry standards Excellent communication at all levels within the organization Critical thinking & decision making Strong team work skills Chemical background would be helpful
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum two year degree or related job experience and continuing education. CPR/First Aid DOT Hazardous material
RCRA EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Minimum of 3-5 years in the health, safety, and environmental field.
PHYSICAL SKILL AND EFFORT
General office environment with some plant exposure. Minimal physical effort is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND HAZARDS
General office environment however will be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, and welding fumes and lubricants and/or oils when in production facility. Must be able and willing to work with and properly use all necessary and/or required personal protective equipment including but not limited to safety glasses and hearing protection.
