DOE POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a hands-on EHS Coordinator to establish and lead Environmental, Health, and Safety programs for a Tier 2 automotive manufacturing startup plant in Grand Prairie, TX. This role will serve as the primary site owner for EHS, ensuring regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, employee safety, and successful integration of EHS systems during production ramp-up. The ideal candidate will work independently while partnering closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Leadership to build a strong safety culture from the ground up in a highly automated manufacturing environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Establish and maintain site Environmental, Health, and Safety management systems Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable state and local regulations Own all environmental permitting, reporting, and regulatory documentation Conduct hazard identification, JSAs, and risk assessments Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions Manage hazardous waste, chemical handling, SDS programs, and spill prevention Develop and deliver EHS training for employees and contractors Support automated production lines and robotics from an EHS standpoint Support equipment installation, FAT/SAT, and production ramp-up activities Manage contractor safety and ensure regulatory compliance Track and report EHS KPIs to plant leadership Support customer-driven EHS audits and regulatory inspections Provide off-shift or weekend support as directed by the Plant Manager Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or related field 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment Startup or launch experience preferred Strong working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations Experience supporting automated or equipment-intensive operations Mandatory Experience & Knowledge OSHA compliance and regulatory inspection support EPA permitting, reporting, and environmental compliance ownership Hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation EHS training development and delivery Contractor safety management Preferred Qualifications CSP, ASP, CIH, or equivalent certification Automotive manufacturing experience ISO 14001 or
ISO 45001
