Job Description
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. This role plays a key part in promoting a proactive safety culture, minimizing risk, and ensuring adherence to all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Monitor work areas to identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, and potential hazards; implement corrective actions as needed. Enforce company environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Ensure appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available, properly maintained, and that employees are trained in its correct use. Respond promptly to workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses. Conducting thorough incident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive measures. Perform routine facility inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Support the administration of Workers' Compensation programs, including incident documentation and return-to-work coordination. Collaborate with Human Resources on Workers' Compensation claims, safety policies, and transitional duty assignments. Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining safety and health policies and procedures. Maintain environmental compliance documentation and coordinate permitting requirements with regulatory agencies. Maintain accurate and organized safety records, logs, and reports. Deliver safety training programs, including new hire orientation and equipment-specific training (e.g., forklift certification). As well as PPE, Hazard Communication, Emergency Action Plans, Respiratory Protection, Lockout/Tagout etc. Participate in safety committees and continuous improvement initiatives. Perform other related duties as assigned.Education & Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in occupational health and safety, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements. Familiarity with environmental regulations and Texas Workers' Compensation laws. OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferably. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Knowledge of first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Experience in identifying workplace hazards and job-specific risk assessment. (JSA)Skills & Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Strong training and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences. Effective communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
