This position ensures that production areas, equipment, utensils, floors, drains, storage areas, and other facility surfaces are cleaned and sanitized according to company standards, food safety regulations, and established sanitation procedures. The Kitchen Sanitation Manager leads the sanitation team, coordinates cleaning schedules around production activities, verifies sanitation effectiveness, and maintains a safe, sanitary, and inspection-ready facility. Key Responsibilities Lead, train, schedule, and supervise sanitation employees working across the food production facility. Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and periodic sanitation schedules for production equipment and facility areas. Ensure production equipment and food-contact surfaces are properly cleaned and sanitized according to established procedures. Coordinate sanitation activities with Production, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams to minimize disruption to operations. Perform and document pre-operational inspections to verify that equipment and production areas are properly cleaned before production begins. Ensure proper use, storage, labeling, and handling of cleaning chemicals and sanitation supplies. Maintain accurate sanitation records, inspection logs, chemical usage records, and corrective-action documentation. Monitor sanitation employees to ensure proper cleaning techniques, PPE use, chemical handling, and workplace safety practices. Investigate sanitation deficiencies and implement corrective actions when standards are not met. Work closely with Quality Assurance to address environmental monitoring results, sanitation concerns, and food safety issues. Maintain sanitation programs in accordance with applicable food safety regulations, company policies, GMPs, SSOPs, and HACCP requirements. Assist with internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party inspections and audits. Monitor inventory levels of cleaning chemicals, tools, PPE, and other sanitation supplies and coordinate replenishment as needed. Ensure sanitation equipment, hoses, foamers, pressure washers, and other tools are properly maintained and stored. Identify opportunities to improve sanitation efficiency, reduce chemical/water usage, and improve overall cleaning effectiveness. Respond promptly to sanitation-related issues that could affect food safety or production. Enforce company safety policies and ensure employees work safely around machinery, chemicals, wet floors, and other workplace hazards. Maintain a clean and organized sanitation storage area. Provide regular performance feedback and coaching to sanitation team members. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Food Safety & Compliance The Kitchen Sanitation Manager is expected to maintain a strong food-safety culture and ensure sanitation practices support the production of safe, high-quality food.
Responsibilities include:
Following and enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Maintaining Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs). Supporting HACCP and preventive food safety programs. Ensuring proper cleaning and sanitation of food-contact surfaces. Supporting environmental monitoring and corrective-action programs. Maintaining accurate and complete sanitation documentation. Ensuring compliance with applicable company, local, state, and federal food safety requirements. Qualifications 2-5 years of sanitation experience in a food manufacturing, food production, commercial kitchen, or warehouse environment. Previous supervisory or management experience preferred. Knowledge of food manufacturing sanitation practices, GMPs, SSOPs, and chemical safety. Ability to train and manage a diverse sanitation team. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify sanitation deficiencies. Ability to read and follow sanitation procedures, chemical labels, and safety instructions. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, or extended shifts as required by production schedules. Ability to work in wet, cold, hot, and physically demanding environments. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift throughout the workday. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a USDA-, FDA-, or other regulated food production environment. Experience with environmental monitoring programs. HACCP training or certification. PCQI training or knowledge of preventive controls. Experience preparing for food safety audits or regulatory inspections. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills. Experience with sanitation chemical systems and industrial cleaning equipment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry sanitation equipment and supplies. Ability to bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs or ladders, and work in confined or difficult-to-access areas when necessary. Ability to wear required PPE, including gloves, protective clothing, eye protection, hearing protection, and other safety equipment. Ability to safely work around cleaning chemicals, water, machinery, and food production equipment. Schedule This position may require a flexible schedule based on production and sanitation requirements. Evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
