The Entry-level EHS Technician will assist the site EHS Manager with the implementation and administration of programs, protocols, and procedures to ensure the safety, health, and environment of employees, contractors, visitors, and the community. He/she needs to complete day-to-day waste handling. Other duties could include regulatory fieldwork, data collection, compliance auditing, training, emergency response, etc.

JOB DUTIES

• Works with EHS Manager to develop and implement on-site environmental, health, and safety protocols and procedures in accordance with general corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
• Works with wastewater treatment operator to learn the operations of the Wastewater Treatment System.
• Works with liquid waste handler to learn the operations of the waste program. Trained in RCRA and DOT requirements for administration of waste streams.
• Assist with and oversee hazardous work to ensure the safety of employees and compliance with company, state and federal requirements
• Work such as bulk chemical offloading, waste drum/tote shipments, chemical and spill clean-up/decontaminations conducted by a team of contractors.
• Conduct assignments such as EHS compliance audits, regulatory inspections, on the job training, chemical inventory assessments, job hazard analysis and risk assessments.
• Participate in Emergency Response Preparedness scenarios and support the site Emergency Response Team in the event of an incident.
• Collect and track compliance records as requested.
• Support day-to-day EHS operations in a fast paced, cross functional and highly collaborative environment.

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates or 2 years or Safety-related discipline a plus.

EXPERIENCE

At least 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment. OTHERS

• Understands fundamental EHS concepts and local EHS regulatory requirements
• Certification or training of First aid/CPR, emergency response experience, respirator and SCBA Training, OSHA regulations, HAZWOPER is preferred
• Industry knowledge of acceptable waste disposal methods and regional, regulated waste disposal locations
• Proficient in Microsoft Office required; ability to formulate reports, spreadsheets and presentations
• Ability to maintain absolute integrity and discretion due to confidential and sensitive nature of information
• While performing the duties of this job, the associate may need the ability to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds, stand and/or walk daily and climb stairs.
• Subject to heat and cold temperatures for periods of more than one hour
• Subject to hazards, includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to heat or cold. Exposure to chemicals
• Upon occasion, the associate may be exposed to a manufacturing environment and required to wear personal protective equipment.
