We're growing that team and looking for an experienced Fire Suppression Technician to join us. We're looking for someone who already understands the fire protection industry and is ready to build on that experience. Current Utah certification is preferred, but not required - relevant hands-on experience with commercial kitchen fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, or related fire protection equipment matters to us. This is not an entry-level helper position. We're looking for someone who can develop into an independently operating technician, communicate professionally with customers, recognize deficiencies and service needs, and take ownership of the quality of their work. Compensation & Growth $22/hour starting pay for an experienced technician working toward required Utah certification $25/hour once certified Additional compensation available based on experience, additional certifications, manufacturer qualifications, and installation capabilities Sales and referral commissions up to 70% for qualifying new accounts you personally generate Company-paid support for applicable certification and training Approximately 30-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday We believe good technicians should understand the business side of the work, just as good salespeople should understand the technical side. Technicians are never expected to pressure customers into unnecessary work, but we do expect them to recognize legitimate needs, communicate solutions clearly, build customer relationships, and identify opportunities when they see them. Vehicle & Mileage We are actively expanding our company vehicle fleet. Until a dedicated company vehicle is available for this position, the technician will use an approved personal vehicle for work travel under a company vehicle/mileage reimbursement plan . Once assigned, the technician will operate a company service vehicle and be responsible for maintaining the vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory used in the field. What You'll Do Inspect, service, maintain, recharge, and repair commercial kitchen fire suppression systems in accordance with applicable manufacturer requirements, NFPA standards, and jurisdictional requirements Perform scheduled semi-annual suppression system inspections and maintenance Identify system deficiencies, needed repairs, required upgrades, and code compliance concerns Perform or assist with suppression system installations, modifications, cylinder changes, hydrostatic testing coordination, and system recharges based on experience and qualifications Inspect, service, recharge, repair, and maintain portable fire extinguishers as needed Accurately document completed inspections, deficiencies, repairs, recommendations, and customer approvals Communicate clearly with customers regarding the condition of their fire protection equipment and any necessary corrective action Conduct site surveys and identify additional fire protection needs Build strong customer relationships and recognize legitimate opportunities for additional services or new accounts Maintain service equipment, tools, inventory, and assigned vehicle in clean and safe working condition Follow company safety procedures and applicable NFPA, manufacturer, DOT, and jurisdictional requirements Work independently in the field while communicating effectively with operations and other technicians What We're Looking For Preferred experience includes: Previous experience servicing commercial kitchen fire suppression systems Fire extinguisher inspection, maintenance, recharge, or repair experience Experience working with common suppression system manufacturers Existing fire suppression, extinguisher, or related fire protection certifications Experience installing or modifying suppression systems Experience identifying deficiencies and explaining corrective work to customers Current certification is preferred but is not required for the right experienced candidate. We are willing to help an experienced technician obtain the applicable Utah certification. Requirements Relevant fire protection, suppression, extinguisher, or closely related field experience Mechanically inclined and comfortable troubleshooting equipment in the field Strong attention to detail and commitment to performing work correctly Professional communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and manage field responsibilities Willingness to learn applicable NFPA standards, manufacturer requirements, and Utah fire code requirements Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to regularly lift and carry fire extinguishers, cylinders, tools, and equipment weighing up to approximately 75 lbs.
