50-60 hours per week (5-6 10 hour days) Project Safety Specialist Required Qualifications Candidates must meet at least one of the following: Bachelor's degree in Safety or related field with 5+ years of construction safety experience on large projects. CurrentOSHA 500
designation with 5+ years of experience as a lead safety professional. Current CHST certification with 4+ years of construction safety experience as a lead professional. Position Overview The Project Safety Specialist will serve as the Owner's safety representative on a large construction project, working closely with Project Management and contractors to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements. Responsibilities Maintain a strong field presence and promote safety as a core project priority. Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA, federal/state regulations, project requirements, and site-specific safety standards. Perform jobsite safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed. Stop work when immediately dangerous conditions are identified and coordinate resolution with contractor safety personnel. Review field safety documentation, including permits, lift plans, inspections, certifications, and pre-job briefs. Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and required safety reporting. Provide safety guidance, coaching, orientations, and regulatory expertise to project and contractor personnel. Participate in project safety meetings, site walks, corporate audits, and regulatory inspections as required. Maintain emergency response plans and communicate significant incidents or safety concerns to project leadership. Identify opportunities to improve safety processes, reduce risk, and strengthen overall project safety performance.Field Requirement:
This position is expected to spend approximately 80% of the workday in the field supporting construction activities.
