Environmental Health and Safety Specialist - EnvironmentalJob Description The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist supports, develops, communicates, trains, drives, manages, audits, improves, and measures EHS performance across a dynamic operational portfolio. This role focuses on building and enhancing EHS compliance and risk management processes, driving understanding and engagement to improve EHS performance, influencing leadership, and integrating EHS into daily operations. The EHS Specialist supports the development and execution of comprehensive EHS compliance programs and implements environmental, health, and safety tools and standards aligned with global EHS policies. A key aspect of this position is fostering strong relationships with stakeholders and guiding them toward best-in-class methods to achieve compliance while contributing to innovative initiatives such as low-orbit satellite system operations. Responsibilities

+ Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs, tools, and standards in alignment with global EHS policies.

+ Develop and enhance EHS compliance and risk management processes to ensure regulatory and internal standards are met and business needs are supported.

+ Deliver effective EHS training and communications that promote understanding, engagement, and adherence to environmental, health, and safety requirements.

+ Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to determine and implement best-in-class methods for achieving EHS compliance.

+ Conduct investigations of working conditions in places of employment to prevent occupational disease and industrial health hazards.

+ Promote EHS awareness throughout the organization through proactive employee communication and participation initiatives.

+ Serve as a key point of contact for safety and environmental issues, providing guidance and support to site teams and leadership.

+ Support regulated waste management activities, including waste consolidation and inspections, ensuring proper handling and disposal.

+ Perform compliance tasks such as storm water sampling, wastewater and storm water sampling, waste inspections, chemical inventory management, and life safety audits.

+ Execute and monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and customer requirements.

+ Support and conduct EHS audits, develop action plans to resolve findings, and implement countermeasures promptly and effectively.

+ Perform job hazard analyses and other risk assessments for new processes and equipment, recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures, including ergonomic improvements.

+ Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly EHS metrics and reports for onsite management teams and corporate reporting systems.

+ Support management efforts to ensure compliance with all corporate program expectations and applicable federal and state EHS laws and regulations.

+ Establish and manage the safety committee, facilitating regular meetings and follow-up actions to address safety and environmental issues.

+ Drive continual improvement initiatives to reduce site safety and environmental risks and enhance overall EHS performance.

+ Support site stand-up meetings, safety committee activities, and floor inspections to identify hazards and reinforce safe work practices.

+ Safeguard confidential information related to security and personnel issues while performing EHS duties.

+ Work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, as required to support EHS coverage across operations. Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree or higher in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

+ At least 1 year of experience providing EHS support, preferably in warehousing or similar operational environments.

+ Hands-on experience in environmental health and safety within manufacturing plant or industrial settings.

+ Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and waste disposal requirements, including regulated waste management practices.

+ Experience conducting wastewater and storm water sampling and interpreting related environmental compliance requirements.

+ Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910, and the ability to apply them to site operations.

+ Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity for documentation, reporting, and analysis.

+ Ability to conduct investigations of working conditions to identify and prevent occupational diseases and industrial health hazards.

+ Experience performing risk assessments and job hazard analyses for new processes and equipment.

+ Ability to maintain accurate EHS metrics and reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

+ Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and personnel issues.

+ Capability to serve as a key point of contact for safety and environmental issues, providing clear guidance and support.

+ Strong communication skills for promoting EHS awareness and delivering training across diverse teams.

+ Ability to recommend and implement appropriate risk mitigation measures, including ergonomic improvements. Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience working in manufacturing plants or similar industrial environments with established EHS programs.

+ Background in warehousing operations and related EHS requirements.

+ Familiarity with chemical inventory management and life safety auditing processes.

+ Experience supporting or conducting EHS audits and developing corrective action plans.

+ Ability to establish, manage, and lead safety committees to address safety and environmental issues.

+ Experience supporting stand-up meetings, safety committee activities, and floor inspections to reinforce safe work practices.

+ Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence leadership and integrate EHS into daily operations.

+ Interest in and ability to support innovative technology initiatives, such as low-orbit satellite system operations, from an EHS perspective.

+ Organizational skills to manage multiple compliance tasks, inspections, and reporting requirements simultaneously.

+ Flexibility and willingness to work any shift, including days, nights, and weekends, based on operational needs. Work Environment This role operates in an active industrial and warehousing environment that may include manufacturing plant conditions and technology-focused facilities. The EHS Specialist regularly walks the floor, participates in stand-up meetings, and conducts inspections across operational areas. The position requires the ability to lift up to 49 pounds and to stand and walk for up to 10 hours during a shift. Typical core hours for certain locations include Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the expectation of flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends as needed to support EHS coverage. The work involves exposure to operational activities such as regulated waste management, storm water and wastewater sampling, chemical inventory reviews, and life safety audits. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Redmond, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
