Job Description

NEI Electric is a full service electrical contracting company with offices in White Bear Lake, MN and Eau Claire, WI. We are dedicated to providing our customers with personalized service and quality craftsmanship. Our customers include local and national businesses in healthcare, retail, industrial, food processing, and commercial markets. We are seeking a Safety Specialist who is passionate about all things safety and excited about contributing to our growing company. This position is responsible for providing or identifying safety related training, overseeing adherence to construction safety norms, etc.
Essential Functions:
Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and job sites to identify hazards (shock, arc flash, arc blast, fire risks). Perform and review arc flash studies and shock risk assessments. Evaluate energized work conditions and determine safe work boundaries. Compliance with Codes & Standards

standards Work with Customers and General Contractors to comply to their safe requirements National Fire Protection Association 70E (Electrical Safety in the Workplace) National Electrical Code (NEC) Stay current with regulatory updates and interpret how they apply to operations. Training & Education Develop and deliver electrical safety training programs.
Educate employees on:
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Proper use of PPE (arc-rated clothing, gloves, shields) Safe work practices around energized equipment Ensure workers are "qualified persons" per safety standards. Safe Work Practices & Procedures Create and enforce electrical safety policies and procedures. Work with Superintendents, Foreman, Service Electricians, Journeyman to develop Method of Procedures (MOP's) Incident Investigation & Reporting Ensure all safety incidents are promptly reported and investigated. Communicate appropriately with the safety director and broader team on preventive measures, incident investigations, and crisis management. Maintain documentation and support compliance reporting. Audits & Continuous Improvement Conduct periodic safety audits and inspections. Evaluate effectiveness of safety programs and recommend improvements. Track safety metrics and trends. PPE & Equipment Management Specify and verify appropriate PPE for electrical tasks. Ensure testing, maintenance, and calibration of safety equipment (e.g., insulated tools, meters). Fall protection Cross-Functional Collaboration Work with engineers, maintenance teams, contractors, and management. Support design reviews to ensure safety is built into electrical systems. Advise on safe installation, operation, and maintenance practices.
Key Requirements:
Associate's degree or equivalent work experience in safety, environmental health, construction safety management, or related field. Minimum 1-2 years of work experience in construction safety, preferably in the electrical construction industry. Knowledge of construction and general industry safety standards and procedures, including OSHA, MSHA, DOT, Worker's Compensation, NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 70E safety rules and regulations. Certifications that would be nice to have - CSP, ASP, CHST, BCSP Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and interact with workers at all levels. Ability to conduct thorough safety inspections and investigations. Strong analytical skills to identify root causes of incidents and implement preventative measures.
