- $105,000 annually , based on experience and qualifications Overview Diligence Security Group (DSG) is seeking an experienced Security Operations Manager to provide senior operational leadership for security services.
This position is responsible for overseeing daily security operations, supervising field leadership and security personnel, maintaining regulatory and contractual compliance, managing incident response, and fostering a safe, professional, welcoming, and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, administrators, and visitors. The Security Operations Manager will develop and implement effective security strategies, oversee patrol and safety operations, analyze incidents and operational trends, coordinate with college leadership and local public-safety agencies, and ensure security personnel This is a hands-on, field-based leadership position requiring sound judgment, independent decision-making, strong communication, de-escalation and crisis-management capabilities, advanced computer proficiency, and strong knowledge of California BSIS requirements and security industry compliance standards. Key Responsibilities Security Operations Oversee day-to-day security operations. Develop, implement, and oversee security protocols aligned with campus requirements, DSG standards, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations. Supervise, coach, and evaluate field supervisors and security personnel. Maintain regular onsite leadership presence through campus visits, post inspections, patrol observations, and operational assessments. Ensure high standards of customer service, vigilance, professionalism, and accountability. Oversee foot patrols, mobile patrols, assigned posts, access-related functions, and other required security services. Conduct and oversee regular safety and security inspections to identify operational vulnerabilities, hazards, and areas requiring corrective action. Coordinate staffing, shift coverage, deployment, and logistics based on operational requirements. Monitor attendance, call-offs, overtime, staffing levels, and coverage requirements. Identify operational deficiencies and implement corrective action. Incident Response & Emergency Management Provide leadership during security incidents, emergencies, and other significant events. Manage incident-response procedures and ensure incidents are documented accurately and escalated appropriately. Review incident reports for accuracy, completeness, professionalism, and required follow-up. Oversee operational investigations involving security incidents, safety concerns, policy violations, or other assigned matters. Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire/EMS, and other public-safety agencies when circumstances require outside assistance. Conduct post-incident reviews to identify trends, corrective actions, procedural changes, or additional training needs. Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response procedures. Ensure personnel understand emergency notification and escalation protocols. Community Engagement & De-Escalation Ensure security personnel maintain a professional, respectful, and service-oriented presence throughout the college environment. Promote positive interactions with students, faculty, staff, administrators, visitors, and members of the surrounding community. Reinforce appropriate de-escalation, communication, situational awareness, and non-violent intervention practices. Ensure personnel understand when situations can be appropriately managed through communication and when law enforcement, fire/EMS, or other emergency resources should be contacted. Provide leadership during behavioral concerns, conflicts, disruptive activity, and other sensitive situations. Promote professional engagement with individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities. BSIS & Regulatory Compliance Maintain strong working knowledge of applicable California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) regulations, licensing requirements, and security industry compliance standards. Ensure assigned security operations comply with applicable BSIS requirements, contractual requirements, DSG policies, post orders, and SOPs. Monitor required Guard Cards, Firearm Permits, certifications, training, and credentials for assigned security personnel. Ensure personnel are appropriately licensed, trained, and qualified for their assigned duties. Identify expired, missing, or noncompliant credentials and ensure deficiencies are addressed before personnel are assigned to regulated duties. Coordinate with Human Resources and Training regarding employee credentialing, licensing, required training, and compliance documentation. Participate in operational audits, inspections, and compliance reviews. Maintain accurate operational documentation supporting regulatory and contractual compliance. Remain current on regulatory requirements affecting California private security operations. Training & Personnel Readiness Identify training needs based on incidents, inspections, performance trends, client requirements, and regulatory standards. Coordinate with DSG Training and Human Resources to ensure personnel complete required training. Reinforce training requirements related to de-escalation, emergency response, incident reporting, customer service, and campus-specific procedures. Monitor applicable CPR/AED, emergency-response, and assignment-specific training requirements. Coach supervisors on leadership, accountability, incident management, and employee performance. Ensure personnel understand post orders and site-specific responsibilities before assignment. Client & College Relations Serve as a primary operational liaison between DSG and assigned college leadership. Maintain regular communication regarding staffing, incidents, operational performance, safety concerns, and emerging needs. Build productive relationships with college administrators and other campus stakeholders. Participate in client meetings, operational reviews, and security planning discussions. Monitor contractual performance requirements, staffing commitments, KPIs, and service expectations. Respond promptly to client concerns and implement corrective action when necessary. Reporting, Data & Technology Ensure security incidents and operational activity are accurately documented through required reporting systems. Analyze incident data, staffing information, overtime, attendance, response activity, and other operational trends. Use data and KPIs to identify risks, recurring issues, staffing needs, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare reports and operational updates for DSG executive leadership and clients. Maintain strong report-writing standards across assigned operations. Utilize security management software and digital workflows to support operational accountability. Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Gmail, and Calendar. Handle personnel, client, incident, investigative, and other sensitive information with appropriate confidentiality and discretion. Education & Certifications Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree
- Required Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Security Management, or a related field. Valid California BSIS Guard Card
- Required Must maintain an active and current California BSIS Guard Card throughout employment. Valid California BSIS Firearm Permit
- Preferred Must maintain an active and current California BSIS Firearm Permit and applicable qualifications throughout employment. Valid California Driver's License
- Required Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in law enforcement, public safety, security operations, or a closely related field. Substantial supervisory, command-level, or senior operational leadership experience. Demonstrated experience managing complex security or public-safety operations and diverse teams. Experience managing multi-site operations. Experience with incident response, investigations, de-escalation, crisis management, and emergency coordination. Strong knowledge of security practices, safety regulations, operational compliance, and risk management. Strong working knowledge of California BSIS regulations, licensing requirements, and security industry compliance standards. Experience overseeing personnel licensing, credentialing, training, and regulatory compliance. Strong report-writing skills and the ability to review and produce clear, accurate, and professional documentation. Demonstrated ability to analyze operational data, KPIs, incident trends, and performance information. Excellent leadership, communication, conflict-resolution, and decision-making abilities. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion. Advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, electronic reporting systems, scheduling platforms, and security management software. Ability to travel regularly between assigned locations. Ability to maintain schedule flexibility based on operational requirements. Preferred Qualifications Retired law enforcement professionals with substantial supervisory or command-level experience are strongly encouraged to apply. College, university, school district, or campus public-safety experience strongly preferred. Experience managing security operations within diverse educational environments. Advanced law enforcement leadership or command training. Experience working with community-based security and de-escalation programs. Familiarity with higher-education safety and reporting requirements. Experience overseeing dispatch or centralized security communications.
