ED Security Officer:

Hours vary with different shifts to cover department needs. Works primarily in the Emergency Department.

Jefferson Regional Safety and Security Department Job Summary:

The Security Officer in the Emergency Department (ED) is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, and staff in the hospital setting, specifically the ED. This role involves responding to emergencies, maintaining order, enforcing hospital policies, and providing support during potentially volatile situations, including handling conflicts and deescalating tense situations. The officer collaborates with hospital staff, local law enforcement, and emergency services to maintain a secure environment in the ED.

ED Security Officer Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required.



Technical or Associate Degree in law enforcement, social science, physiology, or other related fields preferred. BLS/CPR required upon hire or obtain within 30 days of hire.



Certified Police Officer with a valid law enforcement certification required.



Firearm Certification required.



This is a safety sensitive position.

Minimum Requirements:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and manage conflicts. Physical ability to stand, walk, and respond quickly to emergencies Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations regarding safety, security, and patient confidentiality Strong knowledge of emergency procedures, de-escalation techniques, and conflict resolution Current and active police officer Minimum 1 years of experience in law enforcement (i.e., policer officer, military, parole probation, Arkansas department of corrections, etc.)

Preferred Requirements:

Preferred 1 year of supervisory experience in a health care environment or other setting. Knowledge of security operations and protocols in healthcare or hospital environments Experience in hospital or healthcare security preferred
