Unarmed Overnight Campus Foot Patrol Security Officer District & Charter Patrol is seeking a disciplined, dependable, and professional Unarmed Overnight Campus Foot Patrol Security Officer to help maintain a safe and secure campus environment during overnight hours. This position requires sound judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm while responding to emergencies, safety concerns, and policy violations. Officers are expected to treat every student, employee, visitor, and member of the public with professionalism, dignity, and respect. Position Details Part-Time / Full-Time Must be available to work 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM Must be available to work weekends and holidays Must be available to cover additional shifts as needed (open availability preferred) Must be able to walk and patrol outdoors in all weather conditions for 8-10 hours Key Responsibilities Conduct continuous foot patrols throughout the campus, including buildings, parking lots, parking structures, athletic areas, and common areas. Maintain a highly visible security presence to deter criminal activity, vandalism, trespassing, and other safety concerns. Respond promptly and professionally to emergencies, medical incidents, fire alarms, suspicious activity, disturbances, and other critical situations until emergency responders arrive. Remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions during emergency situations. Monitor entry and exit points to verify authorized students, employees, guests, vendors, and contractors in accordance with campus procedures. Issue and verify visitor passes, vehicle permits, and temporary access credentials as required. Enforce campus policies, regulations, and quiet hours in a professional, fair, and respectful manner. Address policy violations, disturbances, trespassing, loitering, noise complaints, parking violations, and suspicious behavior using conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques whenever appropriate. Assist students, faculty, staff, visitors, and emergency personnel with courtesy, professionalism, and dignity. Inspect buildings, doors, gates, lighting, fencing, alarms, and other campus property for security or maintenance concerns. Report hazards, safety concerns, damaged property, and maintenance issues immediately. Monitor parking areas and enforce parking regulations in accordance with campus policies. Complete accurate Daily Activity Reports, Incident Reports, and other required documentation using electronic reporting systems. Communicate effectively with supervisors, law enforcement, fire personnel, EMS, school officials, and fellow officers. Preserve evidence and secure incident scenes when appropriate until law enforcement arrives. Follow all District & Charter Patrol policies, post orders, and client-specific procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned to support campus safety and operational needs. Qualifications Minimum of 1-2 years of recent full-time security experience required. Valid California BSIS Guard Card required. Completion of all required 40-hour BSIS Security Officer Training certificates required. Current CPR Certification required. Experience responding to emergencies and critical incidents preferred. Experience working alongside law enforcement, fire personnel, or emergency medical services preferred. Strong report writing and documentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Professional appearance and customer service skills. Ability to remain calm, exercise sound judgment, and make appropriate decisions in stressful situations. Strong conflict resolution and verbal de-escalation skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Basic computer and electronic report writing proficiency. Physical Requirements Ability to walk and stand for extended periods throughout an 8-10 hour shift. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to climb stairs and navigate uneven terrain. Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds. Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position while responding to emergencies.
