Part-Time Job Overview We are seeking a reliable and professional Part-Time Security Officer to provide early-morning security services at a County of Santa Cruz campus. This is a roving security position that involves regular patrols throughout the shift. The Security Officer will be responsible for patrolling the County campus, monitoring for suspicious or unsafe activity, helping ensure the safety of custodial staff working during the early-morning hours, and documenting activities and incidents through written reports. The ideal candidate is dependable, comfortable working independently, able to remain alert during early-morning hours, and capable of maintaining a professional presence while interacting with County employees, custodial staff, and members of the public. Responsibilities Conduct regular patrols throughout the County campus and designated areas Maintain a visible security presence and monitor for suspicious activity, safety hazards, unauthorized persons, or other concerns Help ensure the safety and security of custodial staff working during early-morning hours Respond appropriately to security incidents, disturbances, medical emergencies, and other situations in accordance with established procedures Document patrol activity, incidents, and unusual circumstances through clear and accurate written reports Immediately report significant security or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor or emergency personnel Monitor buildings, entrances, parking areas, and other assigned locations during patrols Maintain professional communication with County employees, custodial staff, visitors, and members of the public Follow all site-specific post orders, County procedures, and company policies Remain alert and actively patrol throughout the assigned shift Qualifications Valid California BSIS Guard Card required Must be available to work Monday through Friday from 3:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Must be dependable and consistently arrive on time for the early-morning shift Must be comfortable working independently with limited direct supervision Strong observation and situational-awareness skills Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with difficult or unexpected situations Ability to write clear and accurate security reports Good communication and customer-service skills Previous security experience is preferred but not required

Pay:

From $23.19 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 per week
