Job Description
Guard Services Corporal In addition to all duties and expectations of a security guard, a Corporal has the additional duties and responsibilities as follows: A Corporal holds an indispensable responsibility within the company, and that is the initial training of Guard Services Guard Trainees. They are responsible for the professional development of guard trainees, especially in the following subjects: Officer safety requires knowledge of relevant California Penal, Vehicle, and Regulatory Codes, situational awareness, and effective report writing. Foot patrol tactics aid coverage, and consensual contacts ensure lawful interactions. De-escalation techniques manage conflicts, while a solid understanding of Armed Guard Private Security, Inc. employee policy ensures adherence to company standards. Corporals are also charged with conducting random supervisory inspections, checking guards for the following compliance issues: Possession of VALID government issued photo ID, possession of valid guard card, possession of any required state issued weapons permits, and possession of any required company issued weapon registration cards. The proper wear of the uniform, to include exposed patches, chest badge, and company ID badge (properly displayed on the upper right portion of the uniform on the outermost garment). They are to also check all authorized weapons are in proper working order. Corporals must address any training needs observed in the field. If the issue exceeds their expertise, they should notify a sergeant via the chain of command to request support or guidance. In ALL cases, the Corporal is charged with the well-being of not only the guards under their command, but the welfare of the Company as well. Supervisor Expectations Supervisors are expected to uphold ethical standards and integrity in all actions, modeling professional behavior and setting a positive example for staff. They must foster open and transparent communication through regular team meetings and one-on-one check-ins while ensuring confidentiality of employee information. Act as a liaison between officers and higher-ranking command, and providing guidance and support to new or junior officers. They must ensure patrols are conducted as scheduled and post orders are followed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to work overtime for call-outs or emergency assignments. To support training and development, supervisors should facilitate ongoing professional growth opportunities and provide constructive feedback and coaching. They must oversee incident reporting and documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness. In client and public interactions, supervisors must maintain professionalism in communication with clients, tenants, and the public while reporting concerns raised by property managers, tenants, or business owners to management. During emergencies, they are responsible for taking charge, coordinating responses, and notifying law enforcement or emergency services when necessary. Proper procedures must be followed when handling trespassers, property damage, or medical emergencies. Administrative duties include ensuring proper shift handovers and relaying important updates to incoming officers, assisting in scheduling and personnel deployment as needed, and monitoring equipment to report any malfunctions. Supervisors must also ensure a safe and healthy work environment by enforcing workplace safety policies, conducting regular safety inspections, and reporting safety concerns to management immediately. Supervisors play a key role in conflict resolution by working with Human Resources to address and resolve workplace conflicts promptly and fairly, mediating disputes to maintain a positive work environment. They are also responsible for compliance with laws, ensuring adherence to all federal, state, and local employment laws while maintaining a workplace free from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. This includes following California labor laws related to wages and hours and ensuring compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Guard Services Corporal I Wage Scale $19.04 - 20.74 per hour Other requirements: At least 6 months experience with AGPS or 1 year previous leadership experience. Chemical Agent, taser and baton certification and all three registered with administration. Guard Services Corporal II Wage Scale $20.04 - 21.79 per hour Other requirements: At least 6 months experience with AGPS or 1 year previous security leadership experience. Chemical Agent, taser and baton certification and all three registered with administration. A firearm permit must also be obtained and registered with administration.
