Non- Exempt Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The Security Officer IV (District) is a uniformed, armed security professional responsible for providing districtwide security coverage, mobile patrol, rapid incident response, and safety support across all schools and district-owned properties. This position patrols multiple locations, responds to alarms and emergencies, supports administrators and law enforcement, and enforces district policies and safety procedures. The position operates with a high degree of independence, rotates between sites based on operational needs, and may be assigned to day, swing, power, mid, or other shifts as determined by the Director of Security. Essential Job Functions Districtwide Patrol & Security Monitoring Patrol district schools, administrative buildings, parking lots, athletic facilities, and surrounding property. Conduct mobile roving patrols to deter vandalism, theft, burglary, trespassing, and unauthorized activity. Perform security checks of buildings, doors, gates, fences, and restricted areas. Monitor high-traffic areas, arrival/dismissal zones, and district events to maintain safe operations. Provide visible security presence across district locations. Access Control & Visitor Management Verify identification and purpose of visitors entering district properties. Enforce visitor check-in, sign-in, and access procedures. Escort unauthorized individuals from district property when necessary. Assist with security operations for Board meetings, public events, athletic functions, and district programs. Incident Response & Emergency Support Respond to alarms, disturbances, fights, threats, medical emergencies, accidents, suspicious activity, and other safety concerns. Assess incidents, secure scenes, and determine need for additional support or law enforcement response. Intervene to stop or prevent conflicts, criminal acts, or safety hazards using approved methods. Provide armed response consistent with district training, policy, and certification standards. Assist with lockdowns, evacuations, shelter-in-place events, drills, and emergency operations. Provide first aid/CPR within certification guidelines and complete required injury reporting. Student, Staff & Community Support Build professional and positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community members. Reinforce district policies, school rules, and Student Conduct and Discipline Code. Observe, report, and respond to gang activity, weapons concerns, substance use, or other safety risks. Support after-school programs, athletic events, and district functions as assigned. De-escalate disputes and promote peaceful conflict resolution. Documentation, Communication & Compliance Maintain detailed patrol logs, activity records, incident reports, and safety documentation. Make required notifications through radio, phone, and written communication systems. Collaborate with administrators, district leadership, law enforcement, and emergency responders. Maintain readiness of assigned vehicle, radio, and security equipment. Participate in required training, drills, certifications, and weapons qualification programs. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of school safety procedures, district security operations, and emergency response protocols. Knowledge of patrol practices, access control, and incident documentation procedures. Ability to observe, assess, and appropriately respond to unsafe or criminal situations. Strong communication, conflict management, and de-escalation skills. Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive during emergencies. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to operate district vehicles safely in varied conditions. Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, visitors, and law enforcement agencies. Physical ability to patrol large areas and respond quickly to incidents. Qualifications
REQUIRED
High school diploma or equivalent required.
REQUIRED
Must complete district-required first aid, CPI, and safety training.
REQUIRED
Must pass required background checks and pre-employment screenings.
REQUIRED
Must successfully complete district weapons standards and qualification program and maintain annual certification.

Must maintain all annual certifications.

Must pass physical, psychological, drug, and background screening requirements.
REQUIRED
Valid Colorado driver license required with acceptable motor vehicle record.
PREFERRED
Minimum two years as Armed Campus Security Officer or equivalent security/law enforcement experience.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands Work is performed in and around District school buildings and grounds, including indoor and outdoor environments. This role regularly interacts with students, staff, and visitors and supports oversight of campus security operations, including responding to safety concerns, behavioral incidents, and emergency situations. Exposure to varying environmental conditions may occur, and travel between District sites may be required. This position is primarily active and requires frequent walking and standing throughout the workday, with occasional sitting. Employees must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently, and infrequently exert force exceeding 100 pounds in emergency or safety situations. Movements may include bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching overhead and at ground level, and maintaining balance. The role requires the ability to grasp, hold, and manipulate objects and perform fine motor tasks. Employees must be able to receive, process, and communicate information effectively through verbal, visual, or auditory means, with or without reasonable accommodation. The position requires maintaining a high level of situational awareness, supporting coordination of security responses, and responding appropriately in dynamic and potentially high-stress situations. Employees in this category will also receive the following for the 2026-2027 school year:
Non-Recurring Pay:
7% of base salary in Non-Recurring Pay (distributed as 3.5% on November paycheck and 3.5 % on May paycheck). Staffing Stability Incentive (Adams Elementary, Galileo Middle School and Mitchell High School): ESP employees will receive the equivalent of one salary step divided over 12 pay periods.
Base Salary Setting:
Employment, assignment and salary placement, is in accordance with job description requirements. A work history is required to demonstrate job title, job duties and time worked in the position. Grade placement for ESP positions is determined by the Salary Schedule by Job Title resource . Reference the linked How Your Compensation Is Determined for more details. Salary Setting (New Hires): Any newly-employed Education Support Professional will be placed on the twenty-five (25) step system. Each step represents two years of experience, based upon equivalent experience. The maximum number of years of experience granted is 19-20 years, which is equivalent to placement on step ten (10). Steps are determined by experience listed on the application and resume. Salary Setting (Rehires): Returning employees who have previously resigned or separated from the District will be rehired at the same step they were on at the time of resignation/separation plus any new experience gained in the same job, provided step increases were approved by the Board during the years in question . Employees with experience in the District who have left the District and then returned to the same position shall be hired at the same pay grade (refers to the ESP placement on salary schedule by job title) and step at time of resignation. Additional relevant experience gained after resignation may be evaluated from the employee's application and updated resume.
