FLOATER CAMPUS MONITOR POSITION SUMMARY
Assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for the students and adults in the school building Completes security checks at entrances and sweeps throughout the school/ grounds to ensure that all visitors to the school are authorized to enter the building. Greets all authorized visitors in a manner which makes them feel welcome and valued. Functions as a productive and collaborative member of the security monitoring team and school community. Work schedule is 8 hours daily (may be day or evening).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains a check on persons entering and leaving school grounds. Checks identification of all visitors. Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, notifies an administrator or other authorized professional of concerns, violations on campus. Directs visitors and volunteers to sign in at the main office or to correct location. Assists the main office secretaries in checking the scheduled visitor log and determining the validity of unscheduled visitors. Assists the main office secretaries in ensuring that unauthorized visitors do not enter the building. Ensures entrances remain locked. Patrols and observes designated areas to ensure student safety. Utilizes technology related to safety and security. Notifies administrators of any situation requiring immediate or prompt action. Assists in the movement of students in an emergency situation. Attends training sessions required by the district to remain current in campus security information. Collects student and parent items left in the hallways to promote safety throughout the school. Contacts the appropriate resource in the event of suspicious items. May assist in other duties as assigned by the school administration when the students are not on campus and if not attending an orientation or training session. Conducts himself/herself in a courteous, professional manner with parents, staff and visitors. Maintains a positive, professional relationship with students, staff and parents to create an atmosphere of trust and cooperation. As appropriate contributes to the school and district safety and crisis teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate of Arts Degree or higher desired. Successful experience in law enforcement or related field experience Training in security for educational organizations Experience with technologies related to safety and security Demonstrates aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills, a pleasant disposition and an ability to communicate with diplomacy and tact in sensitive situations. Ability to complete the physical demands of the role. Ability to maintain confidential information. Ability to exercise sound judgment. Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous responsibilities in possible stressful situations.
