Storm Duty Requirements Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. The Supvr Security Guard serves as an armed supervisor responsible for overseeing and conducting armed security patrols at critical energy infrastructure sites. Ensures the safety and security of team members, assets, and operations through vigilant monitoring, rapid response, and adherence to established security protocols. Leads a team of security team members , coordinates patrol schedules and serves as the primary point of contact for security-related incidents.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory Duties:
Lead, train, and evaluate a team of armed security guards assigned to fixed posts and roving patrols. Develop and manage patrol schedules to ensure continuous coverage of critical areas. Conduct regular briefings and debriefings with security team. Monitor guard performance and enforce compliance with company policies and procedures. Serve as liaison between security team members and management.Patrol Operations:
Conduct roving patrols across multiple critical infrastructure sites, including substations, control centers, and energy generation facilities. Perform inspections of perimeter fencing, gates, surveillance systems, and access control points. Respond to alarms, suspicious activity, and emergencies in a timely and professional manner. Document patrol activities, incidents, and observations in detailed reports.Security & Emergency Response:
Maintain readiness to respond to threats including trespassing, sabotage, theft, and terrorism. Coordinate with local law enforcement, emergency services, and internal response teams during incidents. Implement lockdowns, evacuations, and other emergency protocols as needed. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to armed security and critical infrastructure protection.Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain accurate logs of patrols, incidents, and team member activities. Prepare incident reports and submit them to management and regulatory bodies. Assist in investigations and provide testimony or evidence when necessary. Conduct evaluations of team members. Completes work schedules and submits safety reports.Equipment Management:
Carry and maintain assigned firearms and other security equipment in accordance with licensing and training standards. Ensure all team members are properly certified and trained in the use of firearms and defensive tactics. Conduct regular inspections of weapons and gear for functionality and safety.LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Required :
Must possess a Class "G" license (Security Guard License) under Florida State Statutes 493 and 790 and must demonstrate a 90% or greater proficiency with the assigned weapons system or achieve within 30 days of appointment. Firearms training and demonstrated proficiency.Preferred :
Valid armed security guard license; CPR/First Aid;FEMA ICS/NIMS

Required :
2 years in a supervisory or lead role.EDUCATION
Required :
High school diploma or equivalent.Preferred :
Associate or Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field.EXPERIENCE
Required :
5 years of armed security, law enforcement or military experience.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Strong situational awareness with the ability to identify, assess, and respond to threats in real-time Knowledge of physical security principles, access control procedures, and perimeter protection Ability to remain calm, make decisions quickly, and act effectively during emergencies or high-stress situations Proficiency in report writing, incident documentation, and evidence handling Understanding of use-of-force guidelines and rules of engagement Computer word processing email use Strong situational awareness and attention to detail. Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with security technology (CCTV, access control systems, radios).COMPETENCIES

Outdoor and indoor patrols in varying weather conditions. Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Standing, walking, and driving for extended periods. Exposure to high-risk environments requiring vigilance and readiness.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods (8-12 hours per shift). Capability to operate patrol vehicles for long durations. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and navigate uneven terrain. Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment up to 50 pounds. Ability to run or respond quickly during emergency situations. Risk Factors include potential exposure to violent or non-compliant individuals requiring defensive response, risk of injury during emergency response, physical intervention, or environmental hazards, exposure to high-stress and high-pressure situations, including emergencies and critical incidents. Work in environments with limited visibility, hazardous materials (site dependent), adverse weather conditions, and possible exposure to biohazards, bloodborne pathogens, or other safety risks.
