Job Description
The Lead Campus Security Officer supports the Director of Safety and Security in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming campus environment. This position assists with daily security operations, works with contracted security personnel, coordinates emergency preparedness activities, monitors campus safety initiative, serves as a liaison with campus departments and local public safety agencies. This position possess strong leadership and integrity, excellent interpersonal skills, professional judgment, customer service oriented, organized and detail-oriented, ability to work independently, team-focused, and commitment creating a safe and welcoming campus environment.(

- Help oversee and evaluate the performance of the contracted security company.
- Conduct routine inspections and patrols of campus facilities and grounds.
- Ensure security incidents are documented accurately and followed through to completion.
- Document performance concerns the contracted security patrols and communicate them to the Director.
- Verify contract compliance and recommend service improvements.
- Assist in the administration and daily operation of the AppArmor mass notification system.
- Learn and maintain proficiency in all campus safety and security software, communication platforms, and technology systems.
- Assist with cameras and access control systems.
- Maintain a visible presence throughout campus to foster positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, medical incidents, and safety concerns.
- Assist in maintaining emergency equipment and safety resources.
- Coordinate service requests for security equipment.
- Assist with policy development and standard operating procedures.
- Help prepare reports, track security trends-recommend improvements.
- Serve on the behavioral intervention team and campus safety committee.
- Responsible for working outside of normal college working hours, including evenings and weekends.
