The security officer provides security services to ensure order and safety of patients, visitors, and hospital personnel. Responsibilities include escorting visitors, employees, and students upon request, patrolling all areas of the hospital internally and externally on foot, bicycle, and/or vehicle 24 hours a day in all weather conditions, providing key assists to all areas of the hospital, detecting suspicious activities, reporting criminal activity, investigating accident scenes, responding to threats or acts of violence, enforcing injunctions, and responding to disturbance calls. Qualifications include a high school graduate or equivalent, basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, a valid Florida driver's license, a State of Florida Class "D" Security Officer License, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification, and Basic Security Officer Certification or higher level of certification through the International Association of Hospital Security and Safety. Scheduling flexibility, experience with Baker Act, hands on experience during a hurricane, and strong customer service skills are preferred.
