Non-Exempt, Full-time The College of Idaho is seeking a dedicated and proactive Campus Safety Officer to join our team in safeguarding our vibrant academic community. In this essential role, the selected candidate will ensure the overall safety and security of faculty, staff, students, and campus visitors while enforcing College policies and working closely with local law enforcement and emergency responders when appropriate. We are looking for an individual who takes pride in fostering a welcoming, secure environment where our diverse college community can learn, work, and thrive. The Campus Safety Officer is responsible for patrolling campus facilities, securing buildings, identifying safety hazards, and responding to emergencies. This role includes participation in disaster preparedness exercises, engaging in crime prevention, assisting the public, and maintaining accurate logs of incidents. Success in this position demands exceptional communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and a commitment to customer service. Responsibilities include patrol, emergency response, building security, safety escorts, parking enforcement, documentation of incidents, special event support, and assisting with access control and other campus safety services. Candidates must be at least 19 years old, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and possess at least one year of security or law enforcement experience (or an equivalent mix of education and experience). The role requires strong judgment, physical fitness, and a thorough understanding of safety principles and legal rights. Ideal candidates demonstrate exceptional integrity, a reliable work ethic, and strict adherence to safety protocols. This position operates on 10-hour shifts; training typically takes place during the day shift, but post-training availability for evening and night shifts to meet operational needs is essential. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States as of the expected hire date and throughout the date of their employment without sponsorship from The College of Idaho. A current, valid driver's license is also required, and candidates must be vehicle-insurable.
