Days Qualifications:
Applicants must possess the following qualifications: Excellent reliability Previous employment experience as a safety officer in a high school, middle school or other facility with adolescents, preferred Successful completion of an approved security guard training program, preferred Good communication skills in relating to students, parents, and staff Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time in extreme heat and cold Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs. upstairs and hills No excessive fear of heights Physical ability to exert necessary force to restrain high school age students and adults engaged in a physical confrontation No known physical problems that would restrict range of motion Good communication skills in relating to students, parents, and staff Ability to show physical agility in all limbs Ability to reach hostile situations on the high school campus and surrounding vicinity in a reasonable amount of time Completion of CPI training preferred Ability to complete and maintain clear and concise records and reports
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following
  • Patrolling all of Alton High School building and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry Physically restraining students and adults when appropriate Conducting patrol inspections of doors, windows and gates to determine that they are secure Patrolling school grounds to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles and checking cars for parking authorization Maintaining written reports of safety violations Supervision of high school students Ensure safety for students, staff, and visitors Maintain confidentiality of student information Deescalate situations Light maintenance Other duties as assigned by principal or designee
