Tier 2 (Non‑Sensitive Public Trust, Moderate Risk) suitability required Position Overview Armed Security Officers provide protective services at a high‑consequence federal research facility. Officers are responsible for access control, patrol operations, incident response, and enforcement of federal conduct standards and post orders. This role requires exceptional professionalism, reliability, and strict adherence to all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Officers must maintain firearms qualifications, meet medical and physical standards, and uphold the integrity expected in a federal environment. Key Duties & Responsibilities Control access at Entry Control Points (ECPs); screen visitors, employees, and vehicles Conduct fixed‑post operations and roving patrols (interior and exterior) Respond to incidents, alarms, and emergencies; apply de‑escalation techniques and first aid as trained Maintain clear, professional radio communications; follow the Emergency Communications Plan Prepare accurate, factual incident and activity reports in English Carry, maintain, and operate contractor‑issued firearms and less‑lethal equipment in accordance with contract requirements Enforce federal facility rules, post orders, and safety protocols Support supervisors and federal partners during drills, emergencies, and operational activities Minimum Qualifications (Hard Requirements) U.S.

Citizen Minimum age:

21 years High school diploma or GED/equivalent Ability to read and understand written orders, regulations, and instructions in English Ability to write clear, factual reports; minimum typing speed of 40 WPM; basic computer proficiency Eligible for Tier 2 Public Trust (Moderate Risk) background investigation Must pass client's preliminary suitability determination Pass pre‑employment drug screening; subject to ongoing random drug testing Meet all medical and physical standards; provide physician‑certified medical exam prior to assignment Able to qualify and maintain firearms certification per contract and Kansas C‑POST schedule Must comply with all federal conduct, safety, and security requirements Physical Demands Ability to remain on post for up to 4 consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or restroom breaks Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; climb stairs; operate in varying weather conditions Ability to run or sprint during emergency response Ability to intervene physically or restrain individuals when necessary Ability to provide emergency first aid, CPR, or resuscitation under stress Weapons & Equipment Requirements Only contractor‑issued firearms, ammunition, and equipment may be used No personally owned weapons or ammunition permitted on federal property Firearms qualification must remain current at all times Loss of firearms certification results in immediate removal from armed duties Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) Prior federal facility security experience (high‑consequence or regulated environments) Military or law enforcement background DD‑214 must reflect Honorable or General discharge; other discharge types require COR approval
