JOB SUMMARY
Provides security for personnel, real property, and equipment. Investigates and documents crimes/incidents, documents and preserves evidence, may have to testify in court as part of job.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Patrol university property in a vehicle, on foot or bicycle to provide security Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for service. Assist Patrol Officer with scheduling and approving reports. Perform campus patrol, victim/witness assistance or as crime prevention officer. May provide first aid services until medical assistance arrives. Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned. Complete reports as necessary on fire alarms, incidents, thefts, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Skill in use of first aid procedures Ability to write reports containing technical information Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to complete moderately complex administrative paperwork Ability to gather and organize legal evidence Skill in completing criminal investigations Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations Knowledge of laws, regulations, methods and university policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not have supervisory responsibility .
OTHER DUTIES
Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
2 year degree preferred but not required
High School Diploma or GED Licensing and Certifications:
Possession of a valid Kentucky operator's license .
WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to continuously stand or walk. Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and life frequently. Ability to lift, carry, push, pull and move up to 50 pounds.
