Professional Security Officers Wanted Red Shield Security & Protection, LLC is seeking dependable, professional, and customer-focused Uniformed Security Officers for retail/grocery assignments in Silver Spring, MD. This is a high-visibility, customer-facing security position . Officers are expected to maintain an active security presence, remain alert throughout the shift, communicate with store leadership, deter theft and disruptive behavior, and help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for customers and employees. We are looking for officers who understand that professional security requires more than simply being present. Punctuality, awareness, communication, de-escalation, and professionalism are essential. What You'll Do Maintain a professional and visible uniformed security presence. Greet and acknowledge customers while remaining alert to activity throughout the store. Monitor entrances, exits, and other assigned areas. Conduct regular patrols of the store and assigned areas. Observe and report suspicious activity, theft, disturbances, safety concerns, and policy violations. Use your presence and professional communication to deter unwanted activity. Communicate security concerns promptly to store leadership. Check in with the Manager on Duty (MOD) at the beginning and end of assigned shifts and maintain appropriate communication throughout the shift. Respond professionally to disturbances, emergencies, and other security-related situations. Use verbal de-escalation techniques whenever possible. Complete clear, accurate, and timely incident reports when required. Cooperate professionally with store leadership, customers, employees, law enforcement, and company management. Follow all client and company policies and applicable laws. What This Position Is NOT This is not a position for someone looking for confrontation. Our officers are expected to use professionalism, communication, observation, and de-escalation to maintain a safe environment. Officers must follow client procedures regarding suspected shoplifting and other incidents. You are expected to observe, communicate, deter, and report according to your assignment instructions. No merchandise is worth creating an unnecessary safety risk. What We're Looking For Successful officers are: Dependable and punctual. Professional in appearance and behavior. Able to write clear incident reports. Able to work independently while remaining accountable to management. Requirements Must be at least 21 years old. Must be available to work Saturdays AND Sundays. Must have reliable transportation. Must have a reliable smartphone. Must be able to report to work on time for every scheduled shift. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods. Must be able to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing. Must maintain a professional uniform and appearance while on duty. Preferred Qualifications Previous security experience. Retail or grocery security experience. Loss prevention or asset protection experience. Military or law-enforcement background. Experience working in a customer-facing security environment. Attendance & Reliability Reliable attendance is a critical requirement of this position. Our retail clients depend on officers being on-site and ready to work at the scheduled start of each shift. This is especially important for morning assignments when officers may be scheduled to provide coverage at store opening. Repeated lateness, missed shifts, failure to communicate, or failure to report as scheduled may result in removal from an assignment.
