The part-time Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for customers, employees, merchandise, and company assets within a jewelry retail store. This role involves monitoring store activity, deterring theft and suspicious behavior, providing exceptional customer service, and responding appropriately to security incidents. The Security Officer works closely with store management to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures while helping create a welcoming shopping experience. We are seeking candidates to support our locations at Somerset Mall in Troy, MI with flexibility to support our West Bloomfield and Novi locations, if needed.

Officer Basic Job Responsibilities:

Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance cameras and communications, controlling access points into Tapper's retail, control customer flow into stores. Assist in investigating security breaches, incidents and other alarming behavior from suspicious people or customers on property. Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences and surveillance activities. Maintain the organization's reputation by complying with policies and procedures. Contribute to the security team by fulfilling security commitments and assignments. Customer service. Light lifting of merchandise bins. Qualifications Law enforcement officers with a minimum of 10 years of active service experience or retired in good standing and certified by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). Current Concealed Pistol License (CPL) required. Active or retired law enforcement identification required. Executive Protection experience preferred. Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation. Must be available to work weekdays and/or weekends as needed, minimally 10 hours/week. Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to complete reports and communicate electronically. Strong interpersonal, customer service, and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to follow protocols, exercise sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism in a retail environment. Ability to maintain a high level of situational awareness and respond effectively to security incidents. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while monitoring store operations and customer activity.

Education and Experience Requirements:

State certified Law Enforcement Experience required. Post secondary education is preferred. Physical Requirements Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, including patrolling and moving throughout the property for the duration of the shift, monitoring surveillance systems, operating a computer and other security equipment, communicating effectively with customers and team members, preparing written reports, and occasionally lifting or moving merchandise bins.
