Job Description
Security Officer Jackson, Mississippi 39212 | Part-time | In person | Two openings Buford Security Agency is hiring dependable Security Officers for a 24-hour contract site in Jackson, Mississippi. The site requires continuous coverage across day, evening, and overnight shifts. Individual schedules are assigned according to site coverage needs. This position begins as an unarmed assignment at $15.00 per hour. Applicants must be willing and legally eligible to obtain the Mississippi Statewide Security Guard Gun Permit and move into an armed assignment at $16.00 per hour when certified, approved by the company, and assigned to an armed post. No employee will perform armed duties until all required state, company, and site requirements have been completed. The timing of any armed assignment is not guaranteed. What you will do Maintain a professional and visible security presence. Patrol assigned buildings, parking areas, and grounds. Monitor entrances, exits, and site activity. Observe and report suspicious or unusual behavior. Respond to incidents according to company and client procedures. Complete accurate daily activity logs and incident reports. Communicate clearly with supervisors, clients, visitors, and emergency personnel. Provide courteous assistance while enforcing site rules professionally. Required qualifications Reliable attendance and dependable transportation. Professional communication, observation, and report-writing skills. Ability to remain alert and calm during the assigned shift. Willingness and legal eligibility to obtain the required Mississippi permit before any armed assignment. Ability to satisfy applicable background, company, and client-site requirements. Availability for an assigned day, evening, or overnight schedule based on contract coverage needs. Preferred, not required Previous security, military, law-enforcement, or customer-service experience. Current Mississippi Statewide Security Guard Gun Permit. CPR or First Aid certification. Experience with patrols, access control, CCTV, or incident reporting.
