Summary:

Performs patrolling, surveillance, escorting, investigation, and intervention services to protect the safety and security of patients, visitors, employees, physicians, and property. Incumbent is authorized to make arrests in accordance with the state and local provisions.

Responsibilities:

1. Serves as shift leader in absence of the Sgt. 2. May fill additional responsibilities such as field training officer, weapons instructor, and special assignments. 3. Serves as an armed company police or PPS officer. 4. Provides direction on sensitive or difficult security calls for service. 5. Mentors new and unexperienced officers. 6. Provides training in relation to certifications as assigned.

Education Requirements:

• High school graduate or GED.
• Graduate of accredited Basic Law Enforcement Training program

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

• North Carolina Driver's License (NCDL) Current and valid
• Commissioned as a law enforcement officer by the State of North Carolina.
• CPI Certification (must obtain within 90-days of hire) Recertification required every 2 years.
• BCLS Certification (must obtain within 90-days of hire) Recertification required every 2 years.

Professional Experience Requirements:

• 2 years' experience is required; preferably in a hospital setting.
• 2-3 years of service within UNC Health Nash security department preferred.
• Knowledgeable of organizational and department policies/procedures preferred.
• Complete IAHSS supervisory course within 6 months of promotion or 6 years of healthcare armed security.
