Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a School Security Officer and play a vital role in ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, visitors, and the community. In this energetic position, you will be the first line of defense in maintaining physical security, managing access control, and responding swiftly to emergencies. Your proactive approach and vigilance will help foster a positive school atmosphere where everyone feels protected and supported. Responsibilities Monitor school premises through CCTV surveillance systems to detect suspicious activity and ensure safety protocols are followed. Conduct regular patrols of campus grounds, hallways, entrances, and restricted areas to maintain physical security. Manage access control systems by verifying identities, issuing visitor badges, and performing background checks on visitors or contractors. Respond promptly to emergency situations by executing established emergency response procedures, including fire drills, lockdowns, or medical incidents. Write detailed incident reports documenting security breaches, accidents, or other occurrences to ensure accurate record-keeping. Perform first aid and CPR when necessary, utilizing AED devices and other emergency medical equipment to assist injured individuals. Enforce school security regulations with professionalism and conflict de-escalation techniques while maintaining a positive customer service attitude towards students and staff. Requirements Proven experience in security roles, law enforcement, military service or related fields with knowledge of physical security practices. Certification in first aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), AED operation, and Taser use preferred; training provided if necessary. Familiarity with CCTV systems, access control systems, incident report writing, and surveillance technology. Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting when required for equipment or safety purposes. Strong conflict management skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations effectively. Knowledge of emergency response procedures and compliance with security regulations specific to educational environments. Excellent communication skills for performing background checks, interacting with students and staff, and documenting incidents clearly.
