We take our cues from residents in setting priorities, understanding the issues, and working together toward solutions. Our priorities include Housing & Environmental Justice; Food & Economic Justice; Citizen Journalism & Advocacy; Arts & Creative Placemaking; and Community Building.
Center Resource Officer Shift:
6:00 AM-2:00
PM Position Type:
Full-time, Exempt — 40 hours per week
Reports To:
Deputy Director of Operations About the Position The Center Resource Officer is responsible for supporting the overall safety and security of children, staff, families, and visitors while also providing general operational support to ensure the smooth operation of the Center. This position works closely with staff, students, families, partners, and community members and may assist with Center programming, events, and other organizational needs. Key Responsibilities Safety & Security Support the Center's security plan, including the proper opening and closing of the building. Monitor school entrances and ensure visitors follow established visitor protocols. Assist with student arrivals and dismissals to support a safe environment. Conduct regular building patrols and monitor alarms and security cameras. Respond to incidents using appropriate de-escalation and response techniques. Complete incident reports and other required documentation. Participate in emergency response procedures, including fire, tornado, and other emergency situations. Maintain a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for children, families, staff, and visitors. Center & Organizational Support Support the Deputy Director of Operations with Center operations and programming, including use of the multipurpose room and support for Center partners. Engage and encourage families to participate in available community programs and activities. Assist with planning and hosting Center events and activities for staff and families. Assist with programming and operational needs across the organization, as needed. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, retreats, organizational events, and community activities as required. Represent the organization in related meetings, coalitions, and collaborative activities. Qualifications High school diploma required. Active SORA license or ability to obtain one. 2-4 years of security experience required. Strong communication and customer service skills. Clinton Hill or South Ward resident preferred. Flexible schedule with availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and additional hours as needed, including overtime and occasional event coverage. Ability to respond to operational needs outside of the regular work schedule when required.
