Security Officer Full TimeManual Labor Portales, NM, US Job Summary Under the direction and supervision of the Security Department's chain of command, the Security Officer will perform security services through interaction with the public, patients, and employees. Provides security at specific locations, responds to security issues, provides access assistance as requested, reports suspicious circumstances and emergencies, and completes other duties as assigned. This person is responsible for protection of designated areas to ensure the safety of the public, patients, employees, and property of Roosevelt General Hospital. Essential Job Responsibilities Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization Periodically tours buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, to determine that they are secure and not tampered with Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, routes or detains them, or telephones police for assistance, according to circumstances Sounds fire signal to alert fire department and hospital personnel in event of fire to extinguish fire Patrols hospital grounds to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles Checks cars and verifies if vehicles are parked in restricted areas, such as fire zones, turnarounds, ambulance entrances or reserved parking spaces Checks exterior lighting and access routes to emergency and fire entrances Escorts personnel to and from parking lots or between buildings as requested Answers visitor's questions concerning locations of various offices, rooms, and other areas within the hospital Non-Essential Functions Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire State of New Mexico Guard Card Level 1, 2 or 3 certification or must be obtained within six (6) months Ability to read, write and communicate in the English language Must possess a valid New Mexico driver's license with a clear record Professional Requirements Adhere to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
