POSITION OVERVIEW
The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of company property, personnel, and visitors. This role involves patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance equipment, responding to incidents, and enforcing site policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is observant, reliable, and committed to maintaining a secure and welcoming environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary: Patrol assigned areas on foot or by vehicle to monitor suspicious activity, unauthorized persons, or safety hazards Monitor and operate surveillance systems, alarms, and access control systems Control access to buildings and restricted areas, verifying identification and credentials Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, disturbances, and security incidents Complete incident reports, daily activity logs, and other required documentation accurately and in a timely manner Assist with crowd control during events or high-traffic periods Conduct safety inspections of facilities and equipment, report safety concerns Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and vendors while maintaining professional boundaries Enforce property rules and regulations consistently and fairly Liaise with law enforcement, emergency responders, and management when necessary Escort employees or visitors to and from vehicles or buildings upon request Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: High school diploma or GED required Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience preferred Valid security guard license (if required by state or local law) CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) is a plus Strong observational and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in high-pressure or emergency situations Basic computer skills for reporting and surveillance system use Reliable, punctual, and professional appearance and behavior
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed on-site at assigned facilities or properties May involve indoor and outdoor environments, exposure to various weather conditions May include evening, weekend, or overnight shifts depending on operational needs
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to walk, stand, or patrol for extended periods Must be able to lift-up to 30-50 lbs. occasionally May be required to climb stairs, stoop, bend, and respond quickly to emergencies Visual and auditory ability to observe surroundings and detect unusual or suspicious activity
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver's license (if patrol or driving is part of the role). State security guard card/license (as required by jurisdiction).
