$19.50/hour Family Promise of Ontario County (FPOC) serves families in Ontario County, NY who are experiencing housing instability through multiple programs of care that includes emergency shelter, eviction prevention, shelter diversion, and stabilization services. Our team works collaboratively within trauma-informed care best practices to maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment for every family we serve. We are committed to treating each guest with dignity, compassion, and respect, using a strengths-based, family centered approach that honors resilience and promotes stability. The Overnight Resident Assistant (RA) is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and calm environment during overnight hours. This role focuses on monitoring the facility, ensuring compliance with shelter policies (such as curfew and quiet hours), and responding to any overnight needs or emergencies.Duties Include:
Safety, Monitoring & Security- Conduct regular building walkthroughs to ensure safety and security.
- Monitor entrances/exits and control access to the building.
- Enforce curfew, quiet hours, and overnight policies consistently.
- Complete wellness checks as needed while respecting guest privacy. Guest Support (Overnight Needs)
- Respond to guest needs that arise during overnight hours in a calm and professional manner.
- Address disturbances, conflicts, or emergencies using de-escalation techniques.
- Provide reassurance and support to guests experiencing stress or crisis overnight. Facility Oversight
- Maintain a quiet, orderly, and safe environment conducive to rest.
- Complete light cleaning and organizational tasks during downtime.
- Prepare common areas for the next day (as applicable).
- Monitor cleanliness and safety of shared spaces overnight. Documentation & Administrative Tasks
- Complete detailed overnight logs, incident reports, and shift summaries.
- Document curfew compliance, late returns, or unusual activity.
- Communicate important updates clearly to incoming day staff.
- Perform light administrative or organizational tasks as assigned.
Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to emergencies, including medical issues or safety concerns.
- Contact managers or emergency services when appropriate.
- Follow all safety and emergency protocols. This position is ideal for someone who:

- Stays alert and attentive during overnight hours
- Can remain calm and decisive in emergencies
- Prefers a quieter environment with periodic activity
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with the team.
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and excellent driving record.
- Ability to pass several background checks.
- Compassion and patience for working with people in crisis.
- Good character and judgement decisions, including displaying behavior appropriate to a mentor who works in close contact with children.

- Demonstrates knowledge of the program, mission and services of FPOC.
- Complies with all policies and procedures in Employee Handbooks.
- Is punctual and consistent in reporting for scheduled work shifts to assure coverage.
- Maintains client confidentiality.
- Is able to work in an alcohol and drug free environment.
- A 90-day probationary period applies to all new hires.
Compensation:
- $19.50/hour (overnight rate)
