Exempt Position Summary:
The Part‑Time Security Officer (Unarmed) is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, residents, visitors, and staff throughout Cuba Memorial Hospital facilities. This position supports hospital operations by monitoring access points, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with hospital safety and security protocols.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor entrances, exits, and parking areas to ensure authorized access. Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff courteously while enforcing hospital visitor policies. Conduct regular patrols of hospital buildings and grounds to identify safety or security concerns. Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, and emergency situations (fire, medical, or behavioral incidents). Document all incidents, observations, and actions in daily activity reports. Collaborate with nursing, maintenance, and administrative teams to maintain a secure environment. Support emergency preparedness drills and evacuation procedures. Assist with patient and visitor wayfinding when needed. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and hospital privacy standards. Report maintenance or safety hazards to appropriate departments.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum one (1) year of experience in security, law enforcement, or healthcare preferred. Valid New York State Security Guard License required. Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and respond quickly to emergencies.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Frequent walking, standing, and occasional bending or kneeling. Must be able to respond rapidly to emergency situations throughout hospital grounds.
