Job Description:
The Public Safety Department of Nassau Community College (NCC) is seeking a Full-time Public Safety Officer I to join the Public Safety staff and who will perform routine security duties in protecting College campus, buildings and grounds. Under general supervision, the duties are routine and require the use of judgment in protecting property and responding to emergencies. In addition, the Full-time Public Safety Officer I will: Periodically tour buildings, grounds, or other designated areas to ensure that doors, windows, gates, and equipment are secured properly. Turn key at each watch clock station at specified time intervals. Report any unusual conditions to supervisors and/or proper authorities. Perform a variety of unskilled tasks including operating elevator, custodial work, answering telephone, and directing public. Question unauthorized personnel and check vehicles entering public grounds. Operate a motor vehicle, as required.
Requirements:
The minimum qualifications include: Completion of high school. Continuing possession of an appropriate class, valid Driver's License issued by the State of New York may be required by the appointing agency. A background investigation will be performed prior to appointment. Continuing possession of New York State registration as a security guard issued by the New York State Department of State. The Full-time Public Safety Officer I should have: Knowledge of the principles and practices of buildings and grounds safety and security precautions. Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations. Ability to learn and enforce security procedures and regulations. Ability to learn the layout of an area to be guarded. Ability to perform routine, unskilled maintenance tasks. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Additional Information:
The Full-time Public Safety Officer I salary is $34,961. After one (1) year, salary will be $44,425. Candidate must be a current resident of Nassau County for at least one (1) year. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Powered by
