JOB SUMMARY
As a Security Officer (armed) you will protect facilities, personnel, and equipment.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Flexible schedule, special events and back up officer for all upcoming time off and special event Treat all persons with courtesy and respect, constantly striving to win the good will of the public by demonstrating impartial enforcement of regulations. Courtesy, tact, diplomacy, and self-control will be maintained even when firmness is necessary in the performance of duties. Operate and enforce a system of personnel identification. This may include the operation of magnetometers, hand-held metal detectors, or X-Ray equipment, and the checking of handbags, packages, vehicles, etc., to detect weapons, contraband, and the like. Courteously and promptly issue temporary badges to Government employees, visitors, Contractors, vendors, and others, and record the required information. Deter unauthorized personnel or property from entering the facilities. Utilize Thermal Cameras at access control points used by employees, tenants, contractors and/or visitors for screening, mitigation and response to the
COVID-19
virus. Ensure all Employees/Contractors provide/display valid IDs while on the property. Ensure visitors properly display visitor badges and are provided with an "Escort Briefing" from the Escort Official. Maintain Visitor Register Logs. Maintain fixed, stationary positions at the entrances to the facilities and other designated areas in order to prevent access of unauthorized personnel and contraband. Assist in controlling parking, monitoring parking, and controlling vehicle entrances/exits. Perform such other functions as may be necessary in the event of situations or occurrences such as civil disturbances or attempts to commit other criminal acts adversely a5ecting the security and/or safety of the facility, employees, property, and the general public lawfully in the buildings or on the grounds. Shall assist/or supplement law enforcement personnel during such situations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Valid SPO Armed License CPR Certification Baton Certification Certificate of Firearms training Valid Driver's License Must be a U.S. Citizen Must be at least 21 years of age Must have a H.S. Diploma or equivalent Minimum of 3 years experience as police officer, military, correctional facility, prison guard or similar Proficient in the English language, both orally and written Shows mature judgment, reliability, dependability, tactfulness and self-control Ability to retain composure and perform under pressure and to know when to call for assistance Ability to meet and deal effectively with the general public Ability to give instructions clearly and concisely, firmly but diplomatically Capable of detaining person(s) while local police are notified and arrive Ability to construct and write clear, concise, accurate, and detailed reports Must have computer experience and the ability to type simple word processing documents to prepare reports and daily journals Must possess skills in telephone etiquette and office organization skills Must wear and use all protective equipment and uniform Must be able to pass drug screen, medical clearance and background check Must meet client suitability
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physically able to perform all general duties, functions, and activities Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties Standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, climb (running, jumping, crawling when necessary) Must possess good vision, depth perception, distinguish basic colors Ability to listen and communicate effectively through clear speech and hearing
