Description:
Coordinate the safety and security functions for the building.
Essential Functions:
Work closely with the School Administration to implement regular building checks, routine security procedures, and handle security problems that may occur
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Superintendent or the Board of Education
Develop and maintains a positive and welcoming climate in the building reception area
Assists visitors with directions and secures proper identification
Refer tardy students to the attendance clerk
Greets everyone entering the building and directs them to the appropriate location according to building procedures
Prevents unauthorized visitors from entering the school
Report any unauthorized visitors, to the Administration. Notify the building administration, or appropriate personnel of any emergency, potentially dangerous, or unusual situations
Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs.
Promote student responsibility for behavior and attitude by serving as a role model and dressing and grooming professionally
Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school
Protect confidentiality of records and information about staff, and use discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines
As requested, patrols and monitors hallways, stairwells, toilet facilities, outside facilities, and other public and unsupervised places of the school to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff and the security of the facility
As requested, assists with supervision of morning arrival and afternoon dismissal of students
Qualifications:
Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent
Hold and maintain a valid driver's license with no serious violations
Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative
Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community
Demonstrate the ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work effectively with others
Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
