Job Description
McKeen Security is a full service uniformed security provider, operating in many areas for over 25 years including: healthcare facilities, educational facilities, industrial environments, concert venues, etc. This position is for an entry level security guard. Friday Dayshift 730am-530pm . There is no experience necessary. McKeen Security will train applicants looking to get started in the private security industry. Retirees Welcome . Security Officer The Security Officer assigned to the Youngstown State University Satellite Campus is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and university property. The Security Officer will provide a visible security presence, monitor campus activity, enforce site policies and procedures, respond to emergencies, and assist with safety-related concerns. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, excellent customer service skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while representing both the security company and the university community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide a professional security presence throughout the campus facility. Conduct scheduled patrols of buildings, classrooms, parking areas, and surrounding property. Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas for unauthorized access or suspicious activity. Assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors with directions and general campus questions. Enforce campus security policies, procedures, and access control requirements. Monitor security cameras, alarms, and other security systems as assigned. Maintain detailed daily activity reports, incident reports, and documentation. Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, medical incidents, fire alarms, and safety concerns. Contact emergency services or university personnel when appropriate. Assist with evacuations, lockdowns, severe weather procedures, and emergency response activities. Protect university property and report damage, hazards, or maintenance concerns. Provide assistance during special events, meetings, and campus activities. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive situations. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Previous security, military, law enforcement, customer service, or related experience preferred. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with diverse groups of people. Strong observation and problem-solving skills. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during stressful situations. Ability to stand, walk, and conduct patrols for extended periods. Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Must successfully complete required background screening and company training. Must meet all state licensing requirements, if applicable. Work Environment Primarily performed within an educational campus environment. May require indoor and outdoor patrols in varying weather conditions. Frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, visitors, and emergency personnel. Must be able to work independently while maintaining communication with supervisors and campus contacts.
