Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Security Captain, the Security Sergeant is responsible for overseeing and coordinating a variety of security services at the job site. Provides first line supervision to security officers on shift, issues duty and post assignments, and makes timely required notifications. The Sergeant performs administrative duties such as writing incident reports/shift journals, timekeeping, assisting with personnel evaluations, and recommending discipline and commendations. The Security Sergeant is a working supervisor who is one of the primary security officers on duty but also directs or oversees subordinates and all responses to emergency and non-emergency situations occurring at the job site. Ensures security services are delivered in compliance with the contract's scope of work, DUS policies, post orders, and all applicable laws, regulations, and operational procedures. Duties may differ among accounts depending on job site, business necessities, and client requirements.Work Schedule :
Rotational - 1 week on/1 week offREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent 1-2 years of prior experience in military, law enforcement, corrections, or private security Valid driver's license State Unarmed Security Officer License. Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment Good computer skills Maturity of judgement and behavior Ability to lead with professionalism, respect and integrity at all times Ability to teach and train others Excellent verbal and written communications skills Strong decision making and incident/event management skills As a condition of employment, must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post-offer physical evaluation.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous supervisory experience Knowledge of security services and developing Security Post Orders in the private sector. Advanced skills utilizing common office related computer programs plus ability to learn proprietary programs unique to client (CCTS).ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Coordinate security operations at the job site for the assigned shift. Apply knowledge of the techniques and practices involved in the physical protection of property, facilities, documents, and material in order to protect against trespassers, sabotage, vandalism, theft, fire, accident, etc. Oversee and enforce established security procedures for security officers and tenants. Act as shift supervisor. Responsible for the actions of the officers during his/her tour of duty. Schedule personnel and coordinate staffing adjustments to meet immediate and projected manpower requirements in accordance with DUS policies and procedures. Assign security officers to the different duty stations/posts. Train security officers on their duties and responsibilities. Ensure that security officers' performance is in line with standing procedures and special instructions. Inspect and evaluate security officers and daily activities in order to monitor and communicate individuals' progress, quality of work and overall performance. Ensure security officers are fit for duty and in proper condition (uniforms, appearance).Conduct investigations:
unwanted visitors, criminal activities, alarms, safety concerns, etc. Ensure all required paperwork and documentation (i.e. incident reports) is completed by the end of the shift and turned in to the Captain. Ensure that all assigned equipment, vehicles, uniforms, and gear are properly issued (or returned), worn and maintained. Report any deficiencies or concerns to the Captain. Maintain established standards of officer performance by personal example. Supervise staff and provide coaching, recognition and discipline within approved empowerment range. Evaluate and provide feedback to officers regarding their reports, daily duties and procedures in order to achieve optimum overall performance. Full working knowledge of electronic equipment like the access control system, the telephone switchboard, the switch box for the CCTV cameras, the base station, and other. Respond to emergencies as requested by client and/or management. Maintain composure and control in stressful situations and/or emergency situations. Seek assistance from the Captain or other management personnel to solve special situations. Promote a respectful and professional workplace environment at all times. Ensure company and site-specific safety programs are followed by all security staff. Be available to provide back up support for personnel on duty as needed. Must have knowledge of all duties associated with the basic patrol/post officer. Safely operate a motor vehicle in a variety of settings and varying weather conditions. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner Attend company/job required training programs (classroom and virtual). Understand the administrative duties and responsibilities of the Security Captain. May be asked to assume the Captain's responsibilities in their absence. The majority of the work is performed in and around a corporate office building with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities. The employee may be required to work in a confined workspace such as a security guard post or patrol vehicle for extended periods of time. Exposure to work assignments consisting of 12-hour days; ability to work day or night shifts as required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
