Required Qualifications:
1-year prior security experience. CLEET-Armed Security Guard License OR Retired Police Commission IAHSS- Cert HC Security Supervisor (CHSS) IAHSS-Cert Adv HC Secur Officer (CAHSO)

Preferred Qualifications:
Armed CLEET License or Retired Police Commission Associates degree or above CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Issued by
American Red Cross or American Heart Association Responsibilities:
The Public Safety Sergeant responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Assigns duties and areas of responsibility to personnel supervised, assesses performance effectiveness and provides necessary training. Functions as Fire Marshal for assigned shift, responds to all emergency scenes pending arrival of other authority, assist with various drills, and inspects fire equipment. Conducts patrols by vehicle or on foot with the objective of protecting personnel and property. Ensures adherence to employee regulations, policies and procedures and prevents criminal, destructive, or disruptive activity. Controls pedestrian and vehicle traffic, ensuring that vehicles are secure and safe. Issues traffic citations and conducts accident investigations when appropriate. Completes special projects and assignments as directed by a Public Safety Specialist or higher level of authority. Assures the Supervisor is kept advised of current unusual incidents, operational matters on assigned shift, and status of personnel, equipment, and supplies. Oversees the training and documentation of progress for new security personnel. Assumes the role of Public Safety Supervisor when directed. Reports to a Public Safety Lieutenant. This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. May participate in fire situations. Participates in bomb threat search. Work is performed inside building where hazardous chemicals and gases are present, as well as outside in all types of weather.
