Job Description
As the Security Officer, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable interacting and servicing the ESU campus community which includes students, parents, employees, and affiliates. You will be an active member of the University Police & Safety team and will work closely with the Parking, Transportation & Security Manager to patrol the campus by foot or motor vehicle to issue parking tickets to illegally parked vehicles observed while on patrol. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your security background with your adaptability skills all while continuously communicating via written or oral with the team on all incoming security developments. To be successful in this role, you must have excellent problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and alert in all conditions. Your normal hours will be Tuesday through Saturday 6:00 pm to 2:00 am but you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Security Officer. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming. What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties) Ensure the safety of campus community by patrolling on foot or motor vehicle. Monitor all university parking lots and enforcing parking regulations. Provides building security and access on campus. Utilize the parking computer program to issue permits to faculty, staff, and students to update or enter parking violations. What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications) Possession of a valid driver's license required. Able to work long hours alone under varying outdoor climate conditions. Ability to remain alert at all times and to act quickly and calmly in emergencies. Demonstrated ability to use two-way radio communication. Capability to learn basic methods and techniques of traffic control and investigation. Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions. Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
