Officers will maintain a safe and secure environment for City employees, visitors, and property through access control, public interaction, screening operations, and emergency response. This position requires professionalism, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to interact respectfully with the public in a municipal environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Maintain a visible security presence throughout assigned areas Monitor and control public access to City Hall Operate security screening equipment including: Voti X-ray imaging systems CEIA walk-through metal detectors Handheld screening wands Conduct visitor screening and enforce security procedures Monitor cameras and access control systems Respond to incidents, disturbances, and emergencies Prepare Daily Activity Reports (DARs) and Incident Reports (IRs) Coordinate with Erie Police, emergency responders, and City personnel when necessary Assist with evacuations and emergency procedures Maintain professionalism and provide courteous public interaction at all times Remain on post until properly relieved

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be at least 21 years of age High School Diploma or GED Valid Pennsylvania Act 235 Certification Valid Driver's License or State ID Ability to pass background investigation and drug screening Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure Reliable attendance and punctuality required

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior security, law enforcement, military, or corrections experience Experience in courthouse, municipal, or public-facing environments Experience with access control or screening operations

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations
