Position Overview Convoy Group is seeking a highly motivated, professional, and community-oriented Armed School Security Officer to support one of our educational partners in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania . The Armed School Security Officer serves as the primary security and safety professional assigned to the campus, acting as both a visible deterrent to criminal activity and a trusted resource for students, faculty, administrators, parents, and visitors. This position requires a balanced approach that combines security expertise, proactive engagement, conflict resolution, emergency response, and relationship building. The ideal candidate possesses excellent judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing situations while maintaining the professionalism expected of a Convoy Group employee. This is more than a traditional security position. Our officers are expected to build trust, solve problems before they become crises, and contribute to creating a safe learning environment where students and staff can thrive. Key Responsibilities Maintain a highly visible professional presence throughout school property to deter criminal activity and promote a safe educational environment. Conduct regular patrols of campus buildings, parking areas, athletic facilities, and surrounding grounds. Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, disturbances, medical incidents, suspicious activity, and security concerns. Investigate criminal activity, policy violations, thefts, vandalism, threats, and other incidents occurring on school property. Prepare comprehensive, accurate, and timely reports documenting incidents, investigations, observations, and enforcement actions. Collaborate closely with school administrators, faculty, emergency responders, and local law enforcement agencies. Assist with the development, implementation, and continual improvement of school safety plans, emergency response procedures, and security protocols. Conduct security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend practical improvements. Monitor surveillance systems, access control systems, alarms, and other security technologies. Provide first aid and CPR during emergencies until advanced medical care arrives. Assist with student arrival and dismissal procedures, traffic management, and special events. Utilize conflict de-escalation and problem-solving techniques to peacefully resolve disputes whenever possible. Foster positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and authority. Assist in safety education initiatives and participate in drills, training exercises, and community outreach activities. Handle unusual situations involving animals, service animals, or wildlife that may impact school operations. Uphold all client policies, Convoy Group standards, and applicable federal, state, and local laws. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to successfully pass all required background investigations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure. Professional appearance and demeanor. Excellent observational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while functioning as part of a larger security team. PA Act 235 Certification Preferred Prior law enforcement experience. Military service with honorable discharge. Experience in school security and protective services. Experience conducting criminal or administrative investigations. CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications. Experience with surveillance systems, access control, and physical security operations. Crisis intervention or de-escalation training.
