Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a vigilant and professional Unarmed School Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors within our educational environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong conflict management skills, a keen eye for surveillance, and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies. This role is vital in maintaining a safe learning atmosphere and supporting the overall well-being of the school community. Responsibilities Enforce school policies and safety protocols to maintain a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. Respond promptly to incidents or emergencies, including medical situations, utilizing first aid and CPR skills when necessary. Manage conflict situations with professionalism, de-escalating disputes and ensuring safety for all parties involved. Conduct loss prevention activities by observing suspicious behavior and preventing theft or vandalism. Assist with visitor check-in procedures, issue visitor badges, and maintain security logs for documentation purposes. Collaborate with law enforcement or emergency services during incidents requiring external intervention. Participate in regular training sessions on security procedures, surveillance technology, and emergency response protocols. Requirements Proven experience or background in law enforcement, military service, security, or related fields is preferred. Certifications in first aid, CPR, or related emergency response training are highly desirable. Knowledge of surveillance systems such as CCTV and loss prevention techniques. Strong conflict management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure. Excellent observational skills with attention to detail in monitoring activities within the school environment. Ability to work flexible hours as needed to cover school shifts. Must pass background checks consistent with school district policies. Demonstrated commitment to student safety and creating a positive school climate.
